I started painting the Neo Romantic pieces a few years ago now. The initial works were very small, round experiments, heavily influenced by the art of Flora Mclachlan and Morna Rhys. I love to be able to escape into a picture. The beautiful mysterious landscapes of both of these artists enable the viewer to do so.
Coupled with a long admiration and fascination with the Pre-Raphaelites, my pieces started to evolve into more detailed and intricate works. However, more and more I find my self turning towards the neo romantics and finding huge inspiration from the likes of Samuel Palmer and Eric Ravelious.
Of course my love for animals dominates all of my work and my early influences were predominantly Sir Edwin Landseer and George Stubbs. Contemporary inspirers include James Lynch, Jonathan Pointer and Raymond Booth.
